From small beginnings
At 14 years of age I began working as a Saturday girl, moving forward to an apprentice after leaving school. At the age of 21 I left the salon environment to venture into the freelance world of hairdressing. A few years later I was encouraged to apply for a teaching positon. I had my doubts but applied anyway and to my surprise I got the job.
Many years later I was still teaching within the industry but now my role is mainly as a quality assessor (IQA) whilst still working within a salon. I’m even more passionate now than I was back then and my goal is always to deliver 100% satisfaction before my clients are allowed to leave the salon.
I work on a one to one basis giving every client my undivided attention during their service, always practicing what I teach.

After quite a few years as a hairdresser I decided I would love to train as a beauty therapist to enable me to offer my clients a wider variety of services and treatments. Once qualified as a beauty therapist I went into a salon to gain experience whilst still working part time as a freelance hairdresser. A few years on and once I had entered the world of FE as a hairdressing lecturer and assessor it wasn’t long before I was teaching and assessing beauty too.
Later I was given the opportunity to work in TV and film which I found fascinating and from which I gained a valuable wealth of new knowledge and experiences. However it took me away from my family and clients too much so I decided to go back to teaching and passing on my passion, knowledge and experiences of the profession to others. I love to learn and my hobbies include researching new developments within the hair and beauty industry, deciding what training and further development I would like to do.
My list is endless as I love working within this ever evolving industry.
